The Myth of Witchcraft As Evil

We will let you know when we get that started. Now, for today’s post, we will be discussing the myth that withcraft is evil.

For centuries people have believed witches to be evil, and working with the devil; this is not true. With in the witch’s code is the ethic is to “harm none”, although not all calling themselves witches follow this code. But cursing, hexing, and manipulting free will for any kind of personal gain are not part of morden-day Wicca.

As with all traditions, you can find dubious practioners, it has been the same with witchcraft. Sadly, it is all these bad apples that have been reported, which has produced a rather warped view of witchcraft & its true essence.

A few years back I came across a website of someone calling themself a witch. The site was inviting people to join them & as I scolled down I saw that one of the groups people could participate in was labelled ‘Satanic’ There is absoultately no satanism within Wicca and there never has been. This is a Christian phenomenon. Wicca has no devil & no hell, and no concept of one vengeful god.

Instead Wicca honors life, celebrates individuality, works towards peace & goodwill, lives in harmony with nature and sees all deities & archtypes as aspects of the human spirit we can aspire to.

Witches have been persecuted unjustly for centuries, blamed for all sorts of things, from socity’s ills to being the scapegoat of human aggression & intolerence. Witches are healers and in later post we will be exploring the true context of these healing practices & a little more about this ancirent Craft of the Wise.
