If a digital clock or watch shows all the same numerals (2:22, 5:55, etc), quickly make a wish before the numerals change. Some believe if you look back at the watch or clock before the numerals have changed, your wish won’t come true.
When a clock chimes an hour that is any factor of three (three, six, nine), make a wish and finish it before the clock finishes chiming.
When your alarm clock goes off, make a wish before you or someone else turns it off. You may wish it hadn’t gone off, but it’s too late for that wish to come true!

Throw a coin into a fountain and make a wish. After making your wish, look for your reflection in the pool. If you see it, there’s a better chance that your wish will be granted.
Throw a penny into a fountain (it must be a penny, not some other coin) and wait until the water has stopped rippling and you can see your reflection before you make your wish.
With your back to a fountain, throw three coins over your head and into the water. With each splash you hear, repeat the same wish. If you hear all three splashes, the wish power in the fountain is strong for you. This is common in Europe.

A rabbit’s foot has long been prized as a good luck charm. The most powerful magic of all is said to be a left foot obtained from a rabbit captured in a cemetery. If you have a rabbit’s foot, you should stroke it as you silently wish and then say, ‘Good luck, good luck, good luck.’

Here are a few fun wishes to make at the dinner table; The person at the table who gets a dish with a flaw or chip may make a wish when taking the first bite of food. (Switching dishes so you will get the ‘wish dish’ invalidates your wish.)
If you are served a beverage in a cup or mug with a manufacturing flaw (a burr, off-center border or design, etc.), you should take your first three swallows from the reverse side of the cup, holding it with your left hand, and make a wish.
Another wishing custom regarding a flawed dish, mug, or cup is that the person receiving it must stroke the flaw three times while making his or her wish.
If there is one piece of cutlery from a set that has a manufacturing flaw (offset design, burr, etc.), the set should be placed in a large mug so the flawed portion is hidden; the person who draws the ‘lucky spoon’ (or knife or fork) should tap it on the table three times while making a wish.
If you accidentally drop a knife, fork, or spoon, make a wish before you pick it up.

Throughout the Caribbean Islands, a charming custom holds that certain colors can affect your destiny in specific areas of life. Sometimes colored beads or tiny colored-glass cylinder-beads are braided into a straw bracelet or necklace. There are always seven beads, though the wearer has the choice of wearing seven of one color for concentrated wishing or all seven colors for a general wish for good luck in all categories. Once a day, the beads may be stroked and a wish made that fits the colors.
Wednesday Jaunary 7, 2009
There are several customs that say that if two people say the same word at the same time, they may each make a wish. There are several ways it can be done.
Hook little fingers with each other and say: ‘Smokes goes in, Smoke goes out. Smoke goes up the chimney spout.’
Hook little fingers with each other and say: First Person: ‘What goes up the chimney?’ Second Person: ‘Smoke.’ Both together: ‘May your wish and my wish never be broken.’
An alternative custom is for one person to call out a word that the other must answer with a term that is closely associated with it, such as ‘cup’ and ‘saucer;’ ‘table’ and ‘chair;’ or ‘cow’ and ‘milk.’)
If you and another person say the same thing at the same time, you should each make a wish; then, don’t speak until you see a mail truck.
An alternative to the above is not to speak until you see a mailbox. This might happen sooner than seeing a truck, depending on where you live

If an acorn falls while you are standing under an oak tree, pick it up, turn around three times, and make a wish. Put it on a windowsill for three days to make the magic stronger.
An old tradition calls for putting an acorn in the window so that Thor, God of thunder and lightning, will spare the house.

If you see two zebras standing close to each other, make three separate wishes. If they do not move away from each other, all three wishes may come true.
